Mandy Moore’s Return To Music

Mandy Moore debuted with her song, "Candy" in 1999. Millennials would perfectly remember her cute, lime-green Volkswagen! The song was so catchy it put her on the covers of famous magazines, earning her the "Pop Princess" title.

Mandy Moore had released six albums until 2009, when she stopped making music. For a decade, we didn't hear any melodies from Mandy until her album "Silver Landings" was released in 2020.

As we begin to enjoy her new album, "In Real Life," here's how Mandy Moore's career in music has evolved over the years:

- Early Years

Moore was singing the national anthem at games before record producers invited her to make music at a studio. At 15, she released her album, "So Real," which was the perfect set of songs for a generation experiencing young love.

As her career took off, she had the chance to open for worldwide sensations such as the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. And she also became a VJ at MTV! But her iconic role as a girl with cancer in the movie "A Walk To Remember" in 2002 changed the course of her life.

- Onscreen Work

Moore's acting skills were being honed now too, and she would go on to star in successful features such as the iconic "Princess Diaries" with Anne Hathaway in 2001. She also starred in projects like "Because I Said So" with Diane Keaton in 2007.

In the following years, she gave her charisma and voice to Rapunzel for "Tangled" in 2010 and worked onscreen on other projects, like This Is Us in 2016.

- Return To Music

Mandy Moore credited her character Rebecca's back story for This Is Us as her inspiration for returning to the studio after a decade. Nobody was sure of what had transpired until she opened in an interview that her ex-husband Ryan Adams had been abusive.

She'd claimed that he had cut her off from music, and it wasn't until she met her current husband, Taylor Goldsmith—who's also a musician—and her producer Amanda Leigh that she returned to the music scene.

Her 2020 album "Silver Landings" saw her reinventing herself and taking control of her music. Her most recent album, "In Real Life," dropped in May, and her U.S. Summer Tour is just up in June.
