Here's All You Need To Know About Drake's New Album: Certified Lover Boy

The Canadian rapper Aubrey Drake Graham, known by his stage name, Drake, was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Drake started his journey in the music industry at a young age and released many mixtapes. One of his three mixtapes, So Far Gone, got mainstream attention and became very successful.

Drake recorded and released his first album in 2010, which gained him recognition as a rapper in the music world. Since then, Drake has surpassed billions of streams on online platforms and broken many records. Several singles and tracks of his albums have charted on Billboard Hot 100.

Drake has continually made great chart-topping music and has won 4 Grammy awards. Let's look at his most recent album, Certified Lover Boy.

Drake — Certified Lover Boy

Most of Drake's music has been centered on heartbreak, his feelings for the women in his life, and those who have betrayed or wronged him. Through his past albums and singles, Drake has carefully developed a persona of a sensitive, lonely lover boy obsessing over women. This has often also invoked a misogynistic savior complex, due to which he has been vastly censured.

Certified Lover Boy, his 6th studio album, is also created around the same narrative. Many fans and critics have said that the album is a collection of tracks on toxic masculinity and redemption without a whiff of heartbreak.

Here's all that you need to know about Certified Lover Boy:

Drake Doesn't Evolve Past His Persona of Sensitive Sad Lover Boy

If anything, Drake has upped the narrative by being a melodramatic forlorn lover who grieves for his past relationships and exes who (in his books) have wrong him.

Most of the beginning tracks, like 'Marvin's Room', are introspective and have a dark melody. 'Fountains' is another reflective track with Kid Cudi. 'Get Along Better', featuring Ty Dolla $ign, is another track about past love mistakes. It's rumored to be about Drake's relationship with Rihanna.

'Way 2 Sexy' is another melancholic track, and the music video is inspired by the 90s animation style. Like the rest of the album, love is also the focus of this track, and Drake mourns that it's out of his reach.

Star Features

Drake is not known for his brevity, and it's evident in this album as well. Certified Boy Lover is a 21-tracks-long album packed with huge star collaborators like Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi, Tems, Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Jay-Z, and Young Thug.

Drake also gave a controversial artist, R.Kelly, credit in his album, which made fans furious. R. Kelly, at the time of the album's release, was on trial for sex trafficking charges.
