All in all, W.Y.E serves as an amazing step into the next phase of Sean’s career. Most recently, the rapper announced he has parted ways with G.O.O.D Music after 14 years with the label.

I know Big Sean is the main act on this EP, but do not sleep on Hit-Boy’s contributions to the project. Throughout What You Expect, Sean raps over everything from gentle to action-packed to Detroit-styled hip-hop beats (Each beat knocks, too). The versatility Hit shows on the EP is amazing.

What You Expect is exactly that, nothing more and nothing less. If you’re a Big Sean fan, this will hit your parameters well – for others, you may find yourself waning off a bit come the middle, but he closes strong, and that is what you need when you’re making an impactful statement on your career as Sean did with the EP.

If you enjoy Detroit II like I did, then you’re gonna love What You Expect? just as much if not even more because dude is continuing to impress me more & more as of late. Sean’s songwriting is continuing to level up at an unbelievable rate & Hit-Boy’s production suits him like it did Nas on his last 2 albums.
