The Wild Heart
| Stevie NicksThe Wild Heart
The Wild Heart is the second solo studio album by American singer and songwriter Stevie Nicks. Recording began in late 1982, shortly after the end of Fleetwood Mac's Mirage Tour. After the death of her best friend, Robin Anderson, and with new appreciation for her life and career, Nicks recorded the album in only a few months and was released on June 10, 1983, a year after Fleetwood Mac's Mirage album. -Wikipedia

The Wild Heart was an upbeat outing for Stevie Nicks. While it may not have been as good as her solo debut, it was still an excellent release. It proved that she was a formidable solo artist in her own right.

Nicks clearly requires an assertive editor and about six weeks of reality testing to clean up the muddle, but somewhere in there remains a talented songwriter who just has far to[o] much money and far too much time to think about herself.

That sultry, sorrowful, witchy sob is intact, and if the songs aren’t quite as luscious as the Mac’s, their country-tinged heartland rock is harmonically pretty and hooky enough.

Her generous songs provide an antidote to today’s often embattled pop music.

Her duet with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, “I Will Run to You,” written by Petty, is a disappointment and a bore. Nevetheless, a good album by an intriguing singer.
