Sweet Passion

American singer Aretha Franklin released her twenty-third studio album—Sweet Passion—on May 19, 1977, through Atlantic Records. Sweet Passion was a follow-up to her gold-certified 1976 album, Sparkle. However, the album was a critical and commercial failure.

Sweet Passion’s “Break It To Me Gently” was its lead single, topping the R&B Billboard at #85 before dropping off completely in two weeks. The album includes two different track listings, conveying messages of love and heartbreak.
