In the end, Asake has released Nigeria’s best album this year so far. I don’t envy the Headies, who will have to figure out whether Asake is Next Rated or Artist of The Year or both. ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe’ feels like another one of those great debut albums that Nigerian music has seen since 1999.

Asake is not afraid to show his versality switching up the tempo from song to song very quickly and smoothly. The smash hit album is predominantly sung in Nigerian pidgin English and Yoruba languages as it should be. He, like his fellow Nigerian artists on the world stage, are making no mistake in making sure their music is authentically Nigerian. They should be proud of this, as it is a sign of real patriotism but a sign of a true artist also.

Produced by Magicsticks, the album effortlessly fuses organic instrumentation including strings, choirs, and hand percussion with subtle contemporary flourishes that complement Asake's tuneful songwriting and global pop appeal. Guest appearances from Russ and Burna Boy add a touch of extra seasoning but are hardly necessary. Mr. Money is Asake's record from start to finish, and he remains firmly in command throughout its 12 tracks.

Clubbing, having fun, popping champagnes, and rocking life are part of the elements that make this LP — Mr. Money With The Vibe. This is who Asake is, although he can be introverted, accept him for who he is and wait for what he has next to offer.

Here’s the rub: Unlike the other artistes in that list, Asake rules both worlds. Banana Island and Badagry. Lekki and Ladilak. He proves as much with his debut 12-track album, Mr Money With The Vibe.

Asake's performance of Mr. Money with The Vibe demonstrates that he is more of a song performer than a songwriter. Undoubtedly, several of the album's tracks display indications of sophisticated writing, but we are surprised by how ordinary some of the songs are that either sound incomplete or freestyle. Apart from that, Mr Money's evaluations of The Vibe Album beg us to applaud Asake. For a first album, Asake has cemented his reputation for his fans.

When the story of Asake’s ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe’ is told in the coming years, the album will stand as a placeholder for the artist’s further evolutions. It will be tagged as a soundtrack for an era when a newcomer seized an opportunity and never let go. Asake has admitted in interviews that there are more tricks under his sleeve; ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe’ bears witness to the beginnings of a growing star who, blending his musical and cultural influences, has opened up a way for him and his music to soar and soar.

The Nigerian seems to have cracked the code for mainstream Amapiano with the help of his producer, whose presence makes this debut memorable.

It’s one of those albums that I heard the first time and ran back to immediately afterwards and might be there on my favourite albums list at the end of the year.

Undoubtedly, several of the album’s songs display evidence of serious songwriting, yet due to their sheer banality, a number of the songs either sound incomplete or freestyle-like. Apart from that, “Mr Money with The Vibe” deserves applause. This début album has solidified Asake’s position in the music business and shown that he will have a great career with devoted followers.
