The album has more misses than hits, and even the better songs are by and large footnotes for Nigo’s famous friends. It’s clear this A-list team fails to live up to the standard Nigo has set in fashion. Even after 11 songs, it’s clear we don’t know Nigo, no matter how much he tries to flaunt his tailored Rap Caviar.

The Japanese fashion designer’s passion project is characteristically stylish and star-studded, featuring contributions from Pharrell, Kanye West, Tyler the Creator, and the late Pop Smoke.

This star-studded affair ends up being as hit-or-miss as one would expect, but the best tracks make it worthwhile for fans of any of the artists involved. Thanks to all of its big name guests, I Know Nigo! rocketed to number 13 on the Billboard 200.

If you want some great rap that straddles a few different eras and regions of the genre, and don’t mind some minor whiplash from that diversity, you can’t go wrong here.

Bold, colourful and finely-tuned—this is probably the designer by day, DJ by night’s best project to date.
