It’s the album where all of her tics — of rushing too many breathy rap-sung syllables into one phrase, overly dreamy production and voluminous multi-tracked harmonies — have become agreeable signatures. JoJo sounds right on time: She’s grown into herself.

She showcases her powerful and passionate vocals that we’ve fallen deep in love with, while revealing herself and her life through her autobiographical material. good to know does a striking job in balancing bright and hopeful moments with the murky, frigid ones. That said, her genuine essence as an artist can’t be ignored on good to know.

‘Good To Know’ is a strong collection of tracks that hears JoJo addressing her vulnerability in an open and transparent manner. It also hears her whole heartedly embracing her RNB roots like never before, which is so playful and empowering to hear.

Overall, Good To Know feels like the most mature and confident version of Jojo we have had yet: both in vocals and virtues. Every note she hits and lyrical idea she has feels precise in delivery, which gives the album a personal ,atmospheric effect.

One thing that can’t be disputed is that good to know showcases JoJo as one of the premiere vocalists of our day, and I for one never tire of listening to her. 3.5/5

R&B’s secret weapon leaves us wanting more. Which is an increasingly rare thing to say about an album in 2020. 4/5

On the whole, “good to know” is a polished, slick set of songs with a couple of outstanding moments from an artist who has grown up comfortable with her sound.

While the production can feel a bit one-note at times, the overall effect of JoJo’s well-balanced blend of R&B and pop makes up for it. With songwriting credit on every track and production credit on a majority, it seems as if JoJo has finally been handed the keys to make the album and music she has always been made to make. 7.8/10

“good to know” shows JoJo at her most vulnerable and honest, while also displaying the singer in the most self-assured and powerful stage of her life so far. The songs off the album range from extremely personal to sensationally confident, with highlights including “Man”, “Don’t Talk Me Down”, “Small Things” and “Proud (Outro)”. All in all, JoJo’s “good to know” is a very good album to know.
