FLETCHER’s album Girl Of My Dreams serves as a perfect debut, for it paints a picture of all the ways Fletcher has evolved and grown over the past couple of years. It’s a manifesto of the artist’s growth and most importantly of her self-acceptance, self-liberation and newly-found self-love. In pure FLETCHER fashion, it’s intimate and unfiltered and there is no doubt that fans, old and new, will be screaming the evocative lyrics back at her on tour in no time.

Fletcher might have some growing up to do as a writer – the music itself is often quite formulaic and predictable, and follows a typical four-chord format – but the fact that she has no reservations about vocalizing complicated and difficult sentiments is what elevates the record as a whole. Wherever she goes from here, it’s nice to have someone who’s able to cut through the bullshit and walk through arduous emotional territory in such an unfettering way. If Fletcher can elevate her songwriting prowess to match her artistic intentions, I think she’ll have one hell of a strong career ahead of her.

With its unfiltered look at the most intimate emotional experiences life has to offer, ‘Girl Of My Dreams’ results in Fletcher’s most revealing and revelatory body of work to date. The candid storytelling of loss and trauma, the pain of personal growth, and the power of true self-acceptance opens up to serving soft pop-punk brilliancy in an exhilarating yet hypnotising project. It solidifies her position as more than just a queer artist and, with this self-liberation and self-love manifesto, it is one that embodies all Fletcher set out to achieve.

Pop production steers FLETCHER’s long-awaited debut album from acoustic bedroom ballads to the club floor and back again as she continues her search for love.

  • Celeb Mix

FLETCHER will forever be the queen of lesbian heartbreak anthems, but the final sentiment on her debut record is she’s had enough of lovestruck pain. After all, as the star points out on the album’s title track, “I’m the only Girl Of My Dreams.”

It doesn't hurt that these moments of unfiltered introspection are matched with infectious, uplifting melodies. Working with longtime executive producer Malay (Lorde, Frank Ocean), as well as collaborators like Jennifer Decilveo and Jesse Shatkin, among others, Fletcher coalesces all of the atmospheric vaporwave and clubby electro-pop that marked her previous work. With Girl of My Dreams Fletcher isn't just yearning for someone to love, she's coming to terms with loving herself.

  • Pitchfork

On her debut album, Fletcher aims to champion vulnerability in queer love. Instead, she delivers generic, one-dimensional pop anthems that never fully articulate her experience of love and heartbreak.

With name dropping and explicit deets at every turn, this album is full of “flame-emoji-wow!” moments guaranteed to become iconic live staples. To top it all up, an unexpected sample of her critically-acclaimed “… if you’re gonna lie…” is going to blow everyone’s minds in wildly euphoric and cathartic anthem 'Guess We Lied…'. From 'Becky’s so Hot' to 'Serial Heartbreaker' to 'Holiday', every track in 'Girl Of My Dreams' is meant to be shouted at the top of your lungs as FLETCHER solidifies her position as more than just a queer artist. With this self-liberation and self-love manifesto, she’s bringing WLW pop to the mainstream as the international pop icon she was born to be.

At its core, Girl of My Dreams is this toast- poignant, vulnerable, honest, and truly “for Cari.”

  • Dork

Fletcher’s long anticipated ‘Girl Of My Dreams’ more than lives up to the hype on an emotionally intense rollercoaster of supercharged pop that sees her exploring every raw emotion on a fluid, dynamic and supremely satisfying odyssey through all the joy and pain of relationships and the human condition.

  • Music Matters Media

It speaks to a fundamental truth at Girl of My Dream’s core; when Fletcher looks inwards and delivers difficult self-reflection, the results are genuinely compelling, but when she expands her horizons outwards she stumbles more often than she succeeds.

  • Ben's Beat

Girl Of My Dreams is nearly as much of a rollercoaster as FLETCHER’s career has been up to this point, but she certainly demonstrates her skill as a songwriter as the narratives unfold. Still a bit rough around the edges, as she continues to get more comfortable in her own skin some more great music should follow.
