1972 - Within the grooves of this record are miles of listening pleasure. Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker are simply superb musicians with the gift of unending virtuosity.

Yes, its psychedelic trappings tie it forever to 1967, but the imagination of the arrangements, the strength of the compositions, and especially the force of the musicianship make this album transcend its time as well.

2015 - The cover of Cream's second album pretty much tells you what to expect inside – a kaleidoscope of psychedelic colors and senses-assauting self-indulgence. From the period anthem "Sunshine of Your Love" to the mini-prog epic "Tales of Brave Ulysses," this is the band at its widescreen and over-abundant best.

2011 - the album plays like a well-worn cadence, something good to be reminded of, but not a bone-shaking revolution

2012 - Disraeli Gears fused the core genres of jazz and blues with a heavy dose of sixties pop and just a touch of psychedelic flourishes.

2004 - Now, all these years later, the album and its Deluxe Edition enhancements serve as a fitting tribute to a fine band that was not afraid to indulge itself, in more ways than one.

2013 - Clapton has a few good turns at the mike and on the fretboard, Jack Bruce sings and plays with confidence and command, vocals and, even if Ginger is sitting in the wrong place in my headphones, his drumming is super.

No question, this is the album where Clapton really started to shine as a lead guitarist. True, he was already well known before this LP for that - even well before Cream formed, but he seemed to let his guitar take over more on this album than on any of the other album tracks we had heard from him previously.

2017 - While Disraeli Gears leads with its two strongest tracks, the rest of the album has more than enough intrigue to capture the listener’s attention despite a couple of makeweight tracks that rely more on the blues.

The best psychedelic album ever. Rich bluesy/psycho guitar and wonderful melodies abound. Buy it NOW.

It's particularly impressive because of the primitive recording techiques; apart from some guitar overdubs, harmonies, and heavy guitar distortion, the sound is mostly live in the studio.

I still don't consider it the complete masterpiece that some make it out as, but it's still a great record, and a solid addition to any collection.

the band expands their psychedelic palette (with major assists from new producer and future Mountain man Felix Pappalardi and legendary sound engineer Tom Dowd) in delivering some of the best songs from the "Summer Of Love."

However, as far as the jazz angle is concerned it offers hardly a passing whiff of that aroma and, with that being the focus of this review, I must honestly rate it as average fare.

Cream’s genius is they are able to create a psychedelic atmosphere with mainly sole blues instrumentation.

At a brief 34 minutes, it’s a breezy, catchy, trippy, yet powerful album that presents those damned rock clichés in their most primordial and unhinged form – a form that somehow, and for once, makes them sound fresh.
