Alice Cooper Goes to Hell

Alice Cooper Goes to Hell is the ninth studio album by Alice Cooper, released in 1976. A continuation of Welcome to My Nightmare as it continues the story of Steven, this concept album was written almost exclusively by Cooper with guitar player Dick Wagner and producer Bob Ezrin. -Wikipedia

Despite its missteps, the gold-certified Goes to Hell would prove to be Alice's most commercially successful solo album for quite some time.

so while I'd still consider this Alice's weakest album, it does have its merits and the potential to grow in estimation

Unfortunately, while the plot benefits Cooper’s lyrics, the music, written by guitarist Dick Wagner, seems an afterthought. (One notable exception is “Go to Hell,” a shouted chant dominated by the guitars of Wagner, Steve Hunter and John Tropea.) Unfortunately, Cooper has never been less threatening.

2016 - Listening to the entire Alice Cooper Goes To Hell album from start to finish is a frustrating experience because one great song can be followed by a complete dud of a track.

worthy of praise, not derision. Just remember — it’s not a rock album. At best it’s rock opera. Proposed analogy: Goes to Hell is Alice’s Music From the Elder. They even have the same producer!

Overall one of Cooper’s best! The tracks (like many of his albums) seem to skip around from hard rock to showboat tunes depending on your mood.

2001 - But all in all, this album is good, but obviously, there are far more better ones than this one from Alice's catalogue.

There are a number of valuable gems strewn throughout this album, and there are more than enough creative ideas to keep it interesting.

The only thing Alice got right about this album was the title.

Still, I like the record. No two songs sound anything alike so surely there's something for everybody.

2018 - And what a bargain it was, for a package of such catchy, well-crafted songs that add up to as harrowing and layered a narrative as Alice Cooper has ever created for us.
